- Inside Out and Back Again (link) : this is the first book I read this year. And I must say it was a great beginning. An awesome book. (5/5)
- Number the Stars (link): The second book was as good as as the first one I read this year. Loved it fully. (4.5/5)
- The Ickabog: (listened to the audio book) a nice story (3/5)
- Flora and Ulysses: lovely book (4/5)
- My Weird School #1: Miss Daisy Is Crazy! (My Weird School series) (link): I have only read the first book in this series and it was fun. My daughter loved the whole series, so now I got her the second series by the same author, my weird school daze (link).
- Story of a forth grade nothing by Judy Blum — the book started of nicely, but then got a bit boring on the way. since I was a so-called know-it-all bossy girl during my childhood (and still am) I did not like when peter called Sheila that.
- The Gopi Diaries: Coming Home — nice book
- The Little Prince : Antoine de Saint-Exupéry — loved as much I did when I read first time in my childhood
- Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Spooky Stories — not awesome, and definitely not spooky. one of the worst book in the series.
- When You Reach Me — Awesome story
- When You Trap a Tiger — beautiful
- The Star Outside my Window — pretty good
- The House with Chicken Legs — nice
- The Castle of Tangled Magic — good
- Where the Mountain Meets the Moon — very good
- The Mysterious Benedict Society — good
- Margaret the First — lovely book (link)
- Ready Player Two: (audiobook) — ok (2.5/5) too much pop-culture.
- The Dark forest: (three body problem book 2) — good (3/5)
- Death’s End (The Three-Body Problem Book 3) (link) — felt more like a non-fiction than fiction. the science part was awesome, but the story was lacking a proper protagonist.
- The poppy war book 1: Awesome
- The Dragon Empire (poppy war book 2) — good, a bit boring
- Spellbound: The Books of Elsewhere: Volume 2 (link) — not as scary as the first book
- A Slow Fire Burning (link) — not as good as the girl on the train, but better than Into the water. I will give this book 3.8/5.
- Firekeeper’s Daughter: ok, predictable and a bit filmy plot.
- The Crossing (Harry Bosch book 18)(link) : pretty good (3/5)
- The Wrong Side of Goodbye (Harry Bosch book)— Good
- Two Kinds of Truth (Harry Bosch book)— Good
- The Late Show — not as good as Bosch but OK
- Dark Sacred Night: (Harry Bosch Series Book 21) (link) — Okish
- The Night Fire: (Ballard & Bosch 2) (link) — I am not liking these small plots stitched together to make a novel. Can’t really able to invest into a story or one character. 2.5/5
- Fair Warning — good
- The Law of Innocence: (Mickey Haller Series Book 6) — good
- The Case of the Missing Marquess: An Enola Holmes Mystery 1(link) — lovely story, loved the movie as well.
- The Case of the Left-Handed Lady: An Enola Holmes Mystery 2 (link) — good, but the first book was better. 3/5
- The Case of the Bizarre Bouquets: An Enola Holmes Mystery 3 (link) — good
- The Case of the Peculiar Pink Fan: An Enola Holmes Mystery 4 — ok
- The Case of the Cryptic Crinoline: An Enola Holmes Mystery 5— ok
- The Case of the Gypsy Goodbye: An Enola Holmes Mystery 6— ok
- Anne of Green Gables — sweet
- A Wrinkle in Time: good
- A Wind in the Door (A Wrinkle in Time book 2): ok
- The Jamie Drake Equation — Audio book, not bad
- The Eye Of The World: Book 1 of the Wheel of Time — good
- The Great Hunt: Book 2 of the Wheel of Time — good
- The Dragon Reborn: Book 3 of the Wheel of Time-good
- Beach Read — very nice
- You and Me on Vacation — okish, not as good as the first book by the author.
- Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative (Austin Kleon) (link) — good book, non-fiction
- Show Your Work!: 10 Ways to Share Your Creativity and Get Discovered (Austin Kleon) (link) — good one, non-fiction
Still Reading
- Where the Red Fern Grows (link): Still reading, it is an old book and the references felt dated. It is a slow read. However, when I understood that it was kind of reminiscence by an old man then the story started to have a context. Till now it is a 3/5. Will update the final verdict when I finish it.
- Anne of Avonlea (Anne of green gables series book 2) — still reading, slow
- The Shadow Rising: Book 4 of the Wheel of Time- still reading, very slow
- Sophie’s World: A Novel About the History of Philosophy — Still reading, I like it, non-fiction.
- Flow: The Psychology of Happiness — still reading, non-fiction
- Wrinkles in Time: Witness to the Birth of the Universe — still reading, non-fiction
Not going to read further
- Kings of Crypto: One Startup’s Quest to Take Cryptocurrency Out of Silicon Valley and Onto Wall Street (link) : My first non-fiction of the year. Finished half of the book till now. Not bad, fills like reading a thriller. However, sometime it is a bit hard to keep track of all the characters. Got really bored halfway to the book. could not finish :(
- We dream of space — very depressing book, could not finish the story, returned the book after reading 25%.
- Only Time Will Tell — could not finish after 60 % extremely boring and melodramatic.
