Thoughts and opinions about life in general

A single word answer to this question is talk to your kid (ok that was four words) :D But I guess you got me point ;)

I started talking to my daughter from the first week she was born. It was not baby talk, but real conversations. Some thing like this dad doing in the video bellow.

Our best conversation time was during grocery shopping. She would sit at shopping cart and I will tell her all about the items from the shelves. I love to go grocery shopping and this made it much more fun :D . You…

I used to maintain a table in a notebook and then later on a excel sheet. This table contained all the movies and series I watched with a word or two specifying my feelings. I haven’t kept that table almost a decade. So here I am starting it again. Finger crossed that I will be able to continue my tradition of girlhood (since I first had my black and white TV) 😀

As I read a book I will update this post during the year 2021. At the end of the year I will make a compiled post from this notes. Therefore this post is going to be a work-in-progress 😀

Young Adult Fictions (Suitable for 12+)

1. Fantasy

Author: Carlos Ruiz Zafon (Amazon Book Link)

Series: Cemetery of Forgotten Books (Book 1)

Language: I have read the English Translation. Original is in Spanish.

Verdict: I enjoyed the way the story unfolded. However the story itself tends to be a melodramatic soap-opera. (3.5/5)

The Shadow of the Wind is a haunting bibliomystery.

Bibliomysteries are a genre of books where the main plot revolves around a book.

It was a very slow read. It took me nearly a year to finish the book cover to cover 😔. Although slow; it was always able to keep the interest high and I…

Director: Christopher Nolan

Year: 2020

Language: English

Verdict: Disappointed (3/5) 😌

source :

It is said that one should gather data and then derive their conclusion from it. Not the other way around, one should not make their conclusion and then gather data to support it.

While watching Tenet I felt like the director wanted to show two parallel times together in the same screen, where one is going forward and the other is going backward. So we can see some people running in the forward direction and the other people running in the reverse direction (which does seem a cool thing…

Netflix Original (link)

Language: English

Verdict: Good (3.5/5)

I had heard about Netflix original series, the Queen’s Gambit, from a LinkedIn post, which described how this particular series caused a new wave to learn chess.

I usually take Netflix subscription once in every quarter. I can not justify the cost with the content they offer. So once in a while when something interesting pops up, like a new season of Agents of Shield or a new season of Brooklyn 99 or this time it was the movie Ludo, I renewed my subscription for a month 😊. …

Author: Alix E. Harrow (Amazon book link)
Language: English
Verdict: Loved it fully (5/5)

It took me four months to read the first 100 pages, finished the next 300 in two days.

This book made me realize something new, every decision we take in our lives is a Door. Through these doors we transform ourselves, through these doors we bring changes and traversing through these doors we grow up to be the person we are.

For the first time I realized, why past always appears so simple, because we already know what’s gonna happen. As we become a changed version…

Author : Jeff Kinney (Amazon book link)

Language : English

Verdict : My daughter really liked it, I will give it ‘okay’ (3/5)

Book Cover

Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Adventure is Rowley’s second book and it is decidedly better than the first one, Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid, which was more about Greg anyway.

‘Awesome Friendly Adventure’ is all about a novel written by Rowley and its ‘constructive’ criticism given by his best friend ‘The Wimpy Kid’ Greg Heffley.

I found the story a bit boring to begin with but it picked up speed and then it delivered in the end…

Director: Mark Waters (available on Disney+)

Language: English

Verdict: Seriously??? (2/5)

When first time I saw the bouquet of movies offered by Disney+ Hotstar, my thought was where were you when I was a kid? It could have been a dream come true! All of my childhood favorite movies at a same place. WOW!

Alas! I think I am growing up 😢.

My daughter turned seven this year, and slowly I have stopped liking all the movies and series which catch her fancy. I guess I watch them now with an eye of a censor board. In every scene, I…
